Carbon Games‘ highly anticipated title AirMech is expected to start its open beta through Steam on November 8th. This F2p action real-time strategy has already garnered 400,000 registered users just through Alpha and Closed Beta. Upon entering Open Beta, this number is expected to climb dramatically.
In the future, the last survivors of the Great War continue their fight with the ultimate war machine: the AirMech®. Created using lost technology, Pilots have found, salvaged, or stolen AirMechs that they use to protect the weak, or to pillage. Which side do you fight for?
AirMech® is a fast paced Action-RTS game that can be played online competitively or cooperatively. Earn Kudos and Experience in battle and unlock a wide collection of AirMechs, Pilots, Units and Items to customize your army to suit your own strategy.
This beta will be slightly different than the majority you may have tried in the past. The project director, James Green, plans on allowing everyone to keep anything they acquire through beta upon full release. ”I hate playing Betas myself because they always wipe your accounts when they leave Beta. So since I get to make the rules now, I say no wipes-no resets. You found a bug and exploited it for personal gain? Awesome, letting you keep your stuff is the least we can do for everyone helping us test.”
For now Steam remains their primary focus, although they do intend on releasing the game for both Android and Ouya. The great news is that no matter what system you are playing on, your data will still be unlocked in every other version. The game is expected to have a fall 2012 release with no specific date announced.
