Steam has revealed the latest games to be Greenlit; including Anodyne, Huntsman: The Orphanage, and Distance. This latest wave of games makes me just anticipate the breaking down of Steam Greenlight even more. Gabe Newell has stated that he doesn’t want Steam to be a dictatorship and plans to remove the Greenlight process, but we have no ETA as of now.
There are many, many, many amazing games on Steam Greenlight and the little number that get through doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface. Regardless, congratulations go out to those that have made it through on this round, and good luck to those who haven’t been as lucky.
Here are the 10 games that have been Greenlit this round:
In Anodyne, you explore and fight your way through nature, urban and abstract themed areas in the human Young’s subconscious, evoked by a 16-bit-era visual style and a moody, dream-like soundtrack.
The player moves between rooms 160×160 pixels in size, an intended constraint that we used to create the monster-filled dungeons you will navigate and the set of nature-based (and sometimes stranger) places you will explore.
Distance is a Windows/Mac/Linux survival racing game from members of Team Nitronic that combines the intense action of arcade racing with the exploration of an atmospheric world. You control a unique car that allows you to boost, jump, rotate, and even fly through a chaotic and twisted city. The world has a mysterious history, and as you explore you’ll be able to uncover pieces of its past. In short, it’s Trials Evolution + Rush 2049 + Halo + Tron: Legacy.
The roads are treacherous and unpredictable with obstacles around every corner. Instead of doing laps on a loop, you’ll be trying to survive to the end in the quickest time. Since your car has several abilities, it allows you to not only drive fast on the track but also upside down and on buildings and walls! You can also fly to discover new shortcuts and paths. You’ll be able to take on the roads alone, or in multiplayer with your friends!
The game is a spiritual successor to the multi-award winning game Nitronic Rush, created by ourselves and 8 others while attending DigiPen Institute of Technology. It was widely praised for its innovative mechanics, visual style, audio design, and atmosphere.
Evoland is an indie action adventure game based on Ludum Dare winner Evoland Classic (which already attracted over 300 000 players). Evoland is also a journey through the history of action/adventure gaming, allowing you to unlock new technologies, gameplay systems and graphics upgrades as you progress through the game. Inspired by cult series like Zelda and Final Fantasy, Evoland will take you from monochrome to full 3D graphics and from active time battles to real time boss fights, all with plenty of humor, and references to many classic games.
Huntsman: The Orphanage is an indie 3D first-person horror-mystery game, where your only equipment is your smartphone and your only weapon is your wits.
Explore the old Orphanage buildings and grounds as you investigate the legend of The Huntsman and discover the truth of the children’s disappearances, but beware of Huntsman himself – he still stalks the hallways and his embrace is inescapable.
Find the lost orphan, Charley and ensure he survives, so you and your ancestors can continue to exist in this present thread of time and space you know as your reality!
Get ready for an epic journey to defend your kingdom against hordes of orcs, trolls, evil wizards and other nasty fiends using a vast arsenal of towers and spells at your command!
Fight on forests, mountains and wastelands, customizing your defensive strategy with different tower upgrades and specializations! Rain fire upon your enemies, summon reinforcements, command your troops, recruit elven warriors and face legendary monsters on a quest to save the Kingdom from the forces of darkness!
The first thing to notice about LOD is that it has an old school style and feel to it, with some unique features which differentiate it from classic games of this generation.
This is not a game to appeal to casual gamers, it is a hardcore fantasy game with a large, diverse world filled with a lot of dangers, intrigue and mystery.
Unlike other games that have invisible walls in Legends Of Dawn there are no restrictions in how and where you want to go and what you want to do. From the very start, everything you do is completely up to you and howyou want to explore the world. Freedom and Exploration are the things that separate LoD from other games.
Even though you have standard quests and events that move your “understanding” of the world, you have freedom to finish the game according to what appeals to you, without the need to complete particular quests.
Organ Trail is a retro zombie survival game. Travel westward in a station wagon with 4 of your friends, scavenging for supplies and fending off the undead. Members of your party might die of dysentery or you might have to put them down yourself when they get bit. Faithfully recreated it as if it were on the Apple 2, Organ Trail offers amazing 16 color art and retro beeps and boops. Packed full of zombie mechanics, themes and references, this is a must have for any zombie survival fans.
Receiver was created for the 7-day FPS challenge to explore gun handling mechanics, randomized levels, and unordered storytelling. Armed only with a Colt 1911 A1 and an audiocassette player, you must uncover the secrets of the Mindkill in a building complex infested with automated turrets and hovering shock drones.
We would like to get to put Receiver on Steam so that users can add it to their Steam library for convenience, and receive automatic updates. We are continuing to work on the game, and this will make it a lot easier for users to get new builds as soon as we release them.
Receiver is available now at wolfire.com/receiver, or you can get it for free with an Overgrowth preorder at wolfire.com/preorder.
You are Nigel Burke… an ordinary guy, with no outstanding skills. Somehow forced to perform an array of vastly complicated procedures, using any tools available. Your goal will be to complete every operation in the quickest time possible, with minimal blood loss!
From fast, reckless and amazingly easy-to-start dog-fights in Arcade, to tactical and more challenging missions in Historical battles and completely genuine flight simulation experience in Realistic mode – every pilot will definitely get what they find most exciting and what they ask from a WWII flight-sim. Multiple settings options allow advanced virtual pilots and beginners to enjoy playing the game together. War Thunder also presents rich PvE-content: dynamic campaigns, solo missions, mission editor, and much more for single-player and cooperative gameplay.
The number of playable aircraft is now more than 200 and it will at least double by the release. Add to that all planes’ cockpits fully-identical to their real-life prototypes and dozens of armored vehicles and ships participating the action on huge painstakingly recreated locations of WWII theaters of war. And for maximum immersion: beautiful hi-end graphics, authentic sound effects for all engines and guns, and beautiful music – we are doing our best to help our pilots feel like they are indeed fighting a war!
